Report From the Mountains of Nepal
6th November 2009

Following is a report from the mountains of Nepal, written by an ex-student from the India base bible school called SLM. He graduated in 2006 and has already got an amazing testimony of the things God is doing through him.

I pray that this will encourage and inspire you! (We have taken the names of the villages out for security reasons).

Hello. ‘I am Ashish from Nepal. I am ex student of the bible school- SLM in India. After SLM I went back to Sikkim and I started Church and church planting, now it is running 3 years. We are now in 9 houses having fellowship and we have now a small new church building that we dedicated last April. In my church; we are having services and prayer. We are happy to worship and preach, so please pray for us, we need your prayer.

Last April, I took 3 ex students of SLM, so I took them trekking gospel to Nepal. We were so blessed and our plan was to increase the Kingdom of God. When we started our journey, it was hard to get to the remote villages because there was a election program so we didn’t get permission to cross borders.

But we reached a village in the evening time, we didn’t get any vehicles to go where we were supposed to go that day so we stayed the night in one church. We slept outside of church because there was nobody there. We had no food and there were many mosquitoes there. Suddenly at night one brother came and he took us inside of the church and he took care of us and gave us food. It was a miracle.

The next day we walked to a remote village and it was really hard. That day was very sunny, so me and the 3 ex students left early in morning and we reached there in evening time and we met one pastor there and his name was David. So he took us to his village to preach the gospel. Each day we went to different villages, there was so many people- we preached door to door.

For two nights we made a gospel program. I preached that night and it was blessed and it was a great time, in a hut we did different programs. Some of the students danced, and the other sing songs- then we preached the gospel to the crowd. It was good and after that we came back from Nepal by trekking.

We hear after 10 days that 4 houses were saved by God and the families are going to church and this week they are going to be baptised. Please pray for them and remember them.

Please pray for us also. Thank you. Ashish

English is obviously not Ashishs’ first language but these young men and women have truly gained a heart for the lost of their nation. They left their simple homes and set out on foot with nothing. They danced and sang and when people gathered around to see- they simply preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

They had no support and hardly any equipment but trusted in God to provide, and the trophies that they returned with were souls won to Christ. They have been invited back by a pastor from an even more remote area of Nepal to go and preach there in the villages. Please pray for Pastor Ashish and all the work he is doing.
