Zareni Ezung – Nagaland, India

Zareni came reluctantly to SLM through the recommendation from a past graduate. She was a wonderfully attentive and encouraging student despite suffering severe homesickness for her family in Nagaland, which is a 2 day journey from where SLM is located. During her time in SLM, she felt the challenge to “deny herself, take up her cross and follow Christ”. A challenge that we have had the priviledge to see her rise to, as she has left her family and joined our team at SLM after graduation in February 2008. She joined us first as an intern, assisting in prayer and worship and living in the ladies hostel, with the difficult job of helping new students adjust to the life of SLM. In 2009, she became one of our full time staff members and has made an incredible contribution to the life of the work in India.

It has been wonderful to see her go from student to teacher, as she began teaching worship and prayer in SLM, and continued to be an valuable help in the everyday life of the students.

One of her favourite tasks has been ‘house visiting’ families of Life Church, India. All the families look forward to seeing her happy face weekly as she is able to encourage and pray with them through many difficult situations.
